In each other’s presence unfolds in five parts created in collaboration with Egmont Park and the beings that inhabit it. Connected to its materiality, its stories, and its spirits, it draws visitors into a sensorial experience, a shift from the outside to the inside, from perception to connection.
The descent into the park’s inner life begins with a physical threshold and continues with a sensory pact. In a protective cold chamber, echoing the one once used in the park, small ice cubes made of rainwater and soil are offered to each visitor. As they melt, they blur the boundaries between the park, ISELP, and the bodies that
traverse them. Next to it, a wishing well, borrowed from a large purple beech tree in the garden destined to disappear, receives the wishes that visitors are invited to whisper into it. A final space filled with voices and vibrations extends this companionship with the park’s messengers. Crackles, murmurs, and creaks reveal their material and ghostly existences. The garden is felt through the sounds of their appearances and disappearances.
Finally, a subjective map, arising from encounters with the park, leads outwards. By blending different times and scales, it invites us to perceive the world as a fabric of sensitive relationships and makes us want to return to the park in a different way, more attentively.
